JULIAN KERBY

After starting in the construction industry in the mid-80’s for George Wimpey PLC, as a Management Trainee, Julian worked his way through a 4-year apprentice period attaining a Graduate Diploma in Building Management and a position as a Site Setting-out Engineer. He then swiftly moved up the management ladder becoming a Contracts Manager before the end of the 90’s and has held Senior Management Roles over the past 20 years, culminating in his first Construction Directors’ position in 2014 with James Taylor Construction.

 

Over these years Julian has been involved in a variety of construction methods from refurbishment, listed buildings, traditional brick and block new-build houses, to multi-storey RC framed apartments, and he has most recently been involved in Modular Off-site manufactured units through the Swan owned Nu Build Factory in Basildon. He has worked for the likes of Bellway Homes, Countryside Properties PLC, Galliford Try and Bugler Construction.

 

Julian's latest role was as a Regional Operations Director for Swan Nu Living, responsible for the Design & Technical, Commercial and Construction departments within his region.

 

At present his portfolio consists of the following: 

 

In Construction: A multi-phase regeneration of a 60’s built residential estate in East Basildon consisting of over 1,200 new homes in a 12-year master programme with a commercial value of nearly £585 million.

 

The Laindon Town Centre Regeneration consists of the demolition of the old town center and a rebuild of 285 new homes with commercial premises to replace the old town center shopping, a new Doctors surgery and a land-swap with Lidl for a new Lidl store. The programme is over 3.5 years with a commercial value of just under £80 million.

 

Pre-Construction: Purfleet Town Centre Regeneration consists of nearly 3,000 new homes, a new town centre around the existing railway station and a new high-tech film studio/park. This project is a 15-year programme and has a commercial value in excess of £1B.

 

Better Queensway, Southend is another multi-phase regeneration of a 60’s built residential estate to the north of Southend High Street and adjacent to Southend Victoria train station, consisting of over 1,650 new homes in a 15-year master programme with a commercial value of nearly £680 million.
